hello.

This is a simple, everyday blog about the things that make me tick. Welcome to my new adventure.

My sweet, sweet Cookies,

My how we've come a long way. I still think back to the early days of debt-ridden anxiety, out-of-control-spending, lack of savings accounts and so much more. We were the poster children for what NOT to do when it came to managing finances.

Fast forward to June 2017 and we found ourselves in Scottsdale, AZ celebrating 10 years since the Smart Cookies were born. I am so glad we made this reunion happen (thanks Handy!). The best part of it? We're already planning on making this an annual reunion, because who doesn't love some solid girl time in 105 degree heat, whilst sipping margaritas in the pool?

TEN WHOLE YEARS! Who knew?! Although we are now spread out across 2 countries, 3 provinces and 1 state, we maintain a friendship and bond that will last a lifetime. 8 children and 4 spouses later, we still try to live our 'richest' lives in every sense of the word.

Back to where it all began! Arriving at Harpo studios....trying to keep it together.

Meeting the Queen O. There are no words to explain how we all felt on this day, but yes, Op's is pretty darn nice and normal for all your skeptics.

But looking back on it all, I am so very proud of the risks we took as a group. If one of us was not on board, we didn't pursue it. That's how fierce we were when it came to our friendship. From the Oprah Show, hosting our own TV show, publishing deals, offsite workshops in Whistler, media tours in every corner of North America (ummm......yes we even survived winter in North Bay, ON), flight after flight, hotel stay after hotel stay, partnerships with some amazing brands, hiring an agent (oh Sudds....the things we made you do...thanks for putting up with us), board meetings with our advisors, speaking engagements (oh UBC...we apologize as you were our inaugural gig) and some heated arguments that started with tears bud ended in big hugs. The list goes on and on. Every one of those experiences were priceless.

I learned some life-long, valuable lessons from this time in my life and I wouldn't change a thing about it. No regrets here, as scary as it sometimes was. We all left our full time jobs to tackle a TV show which none of us had any experience in, but we divided, conquered and came out with a greater appreciation of what it takes to make a show not to mention, we learned a lot about ourselves. Oh yeah, and I learned how to run a business with four ladies, make tough business decisions, managing our empire and speaking the truth when it was needed. We basically avoided spending $50,000 on an MBA and instead, went to the Smart Cookies School of Hard Knocks. #winning!

Our reunion was everything I needed, as hard as it was for me to be away from my little guy for the first time. This past year has been the most difficult for me, professionally, having uprooted my life after 26 glorious years in Vancouver to move to a 'foreign place' all in the name of love. Yes, Grande Prairie, Alberta is foreign to me all you critics. It's certainly not NYC and I'm still scratching my head on how that happened! I've struggled with my identity and relevancy in the months since moving here, became a mother almost immediately (which is out of my comfort zone), diving into a life I knew nothing about. But I'm trying and if there is one thing I've learned along the way, is that it's never to late to reinvent yourself. One step at a time.

To reconnect with all my Cookies was magical and therapeutic.

In Vancouver at our TV launch party. The amount of people that came out to support us was beyond our expectations.

We still have those long talks; catching up on life, but listening and offering an ear when we sometimes face new challenges and struggles, often ending up at a crossroads as to what we do next. We are all still trying to find ways live our best life and do what makes us happy, while challenging ourselves.

It's like not a day went by since we last saw each other. That ladies, is what true friendships are made of.

Thanks for the good times ladies. There is no one else I would rather have been on this wild ride with. Here's to our 2018 reunion!
